The Ecobeam and Sandbag System

The Eco Beam and Bag building system comprise two main components:

1. A framework of Eco-beams (timber and metal beams that form the framework for the sandbag walls)

2. Specially formulated geo-fabric eco-bags, filled with sand and stacked between the beams

The Eco-beam:

Frame of the building functions as a three dimensional plan of the building
Patented lattice beam (to engineer's specification)
Eco beams are comprised of SABS approved pine, cca4 treated struts and a pressed galvanised steel lattice

The Eco-bag

Pillow case design with flap for closure
Stitch bonded geo-textile polypropolene or polyester.
Fabric resistant by degradation by moisture
G5 filter material makes for sturdy drainage units - sand and soil do not have the intrinsic capillary action of cement
Fire proof
Superior thermal and accoustic qualities compared to conventional construction

Ease of Construction:

The materials are light and easy to handle. The ecobeams can be easily modified and or adjusted on site. Ecobeams can be erected at any site even ones where minimal facilities are available.Transportation to remote areas is very cost effective compared to conventional requirements.
